If you wanted more class on the type of car you have always wished for, then the stylish 2017 Fiat 124 Spider goes beyond the standard qualifications. Although it retains the sense of adventure and fun of the Mazda Miata, it is more comfortable and quieter. The pint-size 500 coupe, 500L, and 500X small crossovers are what defines the modern presence of Fiat in the United States. The 2017 Fiat 124 Spider conceals a very familiar face with the seductive Italian sheet metals. The under springs of the 2017 Fiat 124 spider are now provided by the newest iteration of iconic Miata of the Mazda.

The turbocharged 1.4-liter four cylinder mill is one of the significant contributions made in the 124 Spider. Although it has a less restrictive exhaust on the Abarth model, it makes 184 lb-ft and 160hp in the Lusso and Classica trims. It has a slightly bigger body with two inches in the rear for proportionality and additional 3 inches in front to accommodate the engine. The soft-touch plastic has replaced the top of Miata’s doors that had body-colored plastic. The Mini Cooper convertible is still fun to drive and can be personalized to a higher degree. Despite all competition, the 2017 Fiat Spider stands apart with some of its unique features. It usually combines luxury and thrills and is worth a strong consideration.

Features of the 2017 Fiat 124 Spider

Interior

The interior of the 124 Spider never feels cheap because it has been simply designed. Most of the interior is covered by the soft-touch plastics when compared to the perimeter of the Miata that is adorned by the body-colored plastic panels. It has simple air-conditioning that is easy to use. The intuitive menus of the interface make it unique and require little driver attention to operate efficiently. When the vehicle is in motion, the touch screen functionality is usually locked. The knob located below the shifter is what controls the actions on the screen. The trunk may be slightly bigger than other models but accommodates higher loads.

Trim levels

There are three levels of the trim in the 2017 Fiat 124 Spider; Abarth, Classica, and Lusso. The Prima Edizione version is limited to 124 units based on the Lusso trim. Other features include push-button ignition, air-conditioning, LED taillights, manually retractable black soft top, power accessories, cruise control and a 3-inch display screen.

Safety

The 124 Spider has side airbags, antilock disc brakes, traction control and stability. All the trims have a rearview camera and other features can be ordered on the Abarth and Lusso through the Safety and Comfort Package. These include a rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitor and rear parking sensors.

Performance and mpg

Turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine powers up the rear-wheel-drive 2017 Fiat 124 Spider. The six-speed automatic transmission is optional on all trims while the six-speed manual transmission is standard.

Although its torque and horsepower ratings are higher than other models, the Fiat 124 Spider model feels more of a real-world driving machine. It feels a bit punchier and plenty quick at highway speeds.
